Officials and leaders of motor owners’ and workers’ associations a post-rally discussion on Saturday stressed on abiding by traffic rules and ensuring safe driving to reduce road accidents and save human lives.
They expressed the view at the discussion arranged at Town Hall auditorium on the Public Library premises in Rangpur city.
The district administration and Bangladesh Road Transport Authority (BRTA) jointly organised the Road Safety and Awareness Building Rally-2019 followed by the discussion for reducing road accidents.
Government officials, hundreds of drivers, conductors, helpers, leaders of road transport workers’ and motor owners’ associations participated in the rally that paraded the main city streets.
Acting Deputy Commissioner Ruhul Amin Mian addressed the discussion as the chief guest with Additional District Magistrate (ADM) Shukria Pervin in the chair.
Assistant Director of Rangpur Circle of BRTA Abdul Kuddus discussed essence of creating awareness on road safety to inspire common people, drivers and transport workers in abiding by traffic rules to avert road accidents.
Deputy Police Commissioner (Crimes) of Rangpur Metropolitan Police Kazi Muttaki Ibne Minan, its Assistant Police Commissioner Farhad Hossain, Divisional Deputy Director of BRTA Md Ashrafuzzaman, Acting President of District Motor Owners’ Association Azizul Islam Raju, President of District Motor Workers’ Association Tazul Islam Mukul and General Secretary of Rangpur Truck, Tank Lorry, Covered Van and Truck Workers’ Association Shahidul Islam Manik addressed as special guests. The speakers put emphasis on enhancing skill of drivers, abiding by traffic rules by the drivers and common people, ensuing fitness of vehicles and stopping roadside hat-bazaars, overtaking, using mobile phones while driving for reducing the road accidents.
The chief guest called upon drivers, conductors and helpers, vehicle owners and common people to strictly abide by traffic rules while driving vehicles or movements on roads and highways to reduce road accidents.
He stressed on ensuring adequate and proper training of drivers, issuance of driving licenses properly following the rules concerned and obeying traffic rules strictly by all concerned to reduce road accidents.
