Nine hours after his abduction from the capital, a thana level Workers Party leader in the capital was found in Katakhali in Sadar upazila here early Friday.
Tapan Saha, 35, general secretary of Workers Party’s Rampura thana unit in Dhaka, said he was abducted at gunpoint by five adolescent boys from near Golap Shah Mazar in Gulistan area of the city around 7pm on Thursday.
The miscreants picked Saha in a microbus
blindfolded and took him to a field in Katakhali.
Several more people joined them at the field when they called his family members over phone and demanded Tk 50,000 as ransom. They also snatched the mobile handset of Saha and transferred about Tk 25,000 from his bKash wallet.
At one stage, the miscreants fled the spot leaving him behind.
Sub-inspector of Sadar Police Station Md Shafiqul Islam said a patrol team of police noticed the victim lying on the field in the early hours of Friday and rescued him.
