One week after the abduction, police rescued a shrimp trader from deep forest of Sunderbans on Friday night.
Deputy Inspector General of Police in Khulna Range S M Moniruzzaman, in a press briefing at the conference room of Khulna Police Super on Saturday noon said pirates of Sunderbans kidnapped Md Zunaed Hassan Shuvra, 30, owner of Sunderban Shrimps Private Ltd of village Suterkhali under Dakop upazila in Khulna district on November 28.
“We have confirmed his position through mobile phone tracking but the abductors changed their places again and again after sensing the presence of law enforcers,” DIG said.
He said Khulna and Bagerhat district police along with coast guard jointly went in a drive on Friday night at Taltola Gherar Khal area of Sunderban under Koyra upazila in Khulna district.
“We rescued Shuvra after a massive drive,” he said adding that pirates managed to flee.
He also said drives will continue to arrest pirates from the Sunderbans.
