Members of Rapid Action Battalion (RAB)-5 arrested an alleged abductor and rescued an abducted person from a house at Dublibhandar village under Shibganj upazila in the district on Monday.
The arrested person was identified as Abu Bakar Siddique, 35, of Dublibhandar village and the rescued person was Md. Nasir Uddin, 50, son of late Nayeb Uddin of Nischintapur village under Meherpur sadar upazila.
RAB said, acting on a tip-off, an operation team of RAB from Chapainawabganj camp raided the house of Abu Bakar at Dublibhandar this afternoon, arrested him and rescued the abducted person. Nasir Uddin was abducted from Chandra area under Gazipur district at 7 pm on August 19. Later, the abductors demanded Tk. 9 lakh from his family as ransom, the sources said.
