Police rescued a kidnapped farmer and arrested a female abductor from Station Bazar area in the district town on Monday night.
The rescued farmer was identified as Abul Kashem, a resident of Batash Molla village in Poba upazila of Rajshahi district while the alleged abductor was Munni.
Officer-in-charge of Sadar Police Station Mizanur Rahman said a gang of kidnappers picked up Kashem when he was going to Madrasa More to meet with a friend in the afternoon.
Later, the kidnappers demanded Tk5 lakh as ransom from the family members of the victim over phone.
Following a tip-off, a team of police conducted a drive in Station
Bazar area at night, rescued Kashem and arrested Munni.
