Abducted child rescued: 2 held

The Rapid Action Battalion (RAB) rescued an abducted child and arrested four suspected kidnappers conducting
simultaneous drives in Ashulia and Dhaka city in last three days till early Saturday.
The rescued child’s name is Md Abbas, 6, son of Jamir Sarker of Kathgora in Ashulia of Dhaka district, while the arrested kidnappers are-Md Sohel Akand, 26, Md Nazrul Islam, 30, Md Imran Hossain, 22, and Md Ratan Das, 22.
Sources at RAB headquarters said the kidnapping gangsters picked up little Abbas from his Kathgora house on May 6 and started demanding
Tk 5 lakh from his father as ransom over phone.
After getting a complaint from the victim’s father Jamir Sarker, an operational team of RAB-1 arrested Sohel from Kathgora area on May 7.
Following his statements, the elite force members started simultaneous drives in different areas to rescue the abducted child. At one stage, the gangsters hid him at a location in Wari, as Rab’s search continued on May 7. Later, local people rescued Abbas and handed him over to local thana police.
As part of its continued operation to arrest the kidnappers, the RAB-1 team arrested the ringleader of the gang Nazrul from Shyampur area along with one pistol and following his information, Imran and Ratan Sarder were arrested from the same area on early Saturday.
