Abducted C&F agent of Benapole rescued

Detective Branch (DB) of police rescued a C&F agent of Benapole port from the city’s Mugda area early Thursday two days after he was reportedly kidnapped by miscreants.
The rescued man was identified as Habibur Rahman Habi, a trader of C&F agent in Benapole port and son of Abdul Qashem of Shikri village in Benapole. The victim’s brother Shamsur Rahman said Habi, also former chairman of Putkhali union parishad in Benapole, went to Dhaka on Tuesday night (November 25) for C&F business purpose and was abducted by some miscreants in Kamalapur area around 10.00pm. His two mobile phones remained switched off since after his abduction, said Shamsur Rahman.
Later, a general diary was filed with Motijheel Police Station. Deputy Commissioner Masudur Rahman (Media) of Dhaka Metropolitan Police (DMP) said tipped off, a team of DB police launched a drive in Mugda early in the morning and rescued Habi from a house.
The plainclothes police also arrested six people for their alleged involvement in the kidnap of the C&F agent.
Habi was admitted to Dhaka Medical College Hospital with critical injuries he received from torture after abduction. Benapole C&F Agent Association president Mafizur Rahman Sajan said the strike demanding the rescue of Habi in Benapole port was withdrawn after he was freed in the morning.
