Police are yet to trace out a businessman who was abducted by unknown criminals from in front of a bank in the capital’s Gulshan on Sunday afternoon.
Even the police force also could not arrest the abductors after observing the footage of CCTV cameras installed nearby areas.
Aniruddha Kumar Roy, 53, Managing Director of RMM Group, was abducted when he came out of the bank around 4:20pm on Sunday.
“A special team of cop is trying to identify the criminals and their whereabouts after the abduction. We hope to arrest the criminals soon,” said Abu Bakar Siddique, Officer-in-Charge (OC) of Gulshan Police Station.
Police have interrogated some persons to unveil the clue to the abduction, the OC said.
The police official said Aniruddha, who runs export-oriented leather business, has two partners. “We are looking into whether there is any enmity with his business partners.” Meanwhile, Aniruddha’s nephew Kollol Hazra filed a GD with the police station in this connection.
Kollol said his uncle went to Gulshan for business from his office in Bangla Motor.
“Nobody has called us demanding ransom or anything else as of 12:30am on Monday. The family is extremely worried. We want his immediate return,” Kollol said.
Two unidentified men picked up Aniruddha Kumar Roy on a microbus at 4:30pm on Sunday, police said.
“The duo pushed him into the microbus after a brief conversation in front of the Union Bank office at Gulshan 1 when he was about to get into his car,” Gulshan Police Station Inspector Salahuddin Mia said.
