UNB, Dhaka :
The High Court on Wednesday granted bail to BNP leader Mirza Abbas in a graft case filed by Anti Corruption
Commission (ACC) for irregularities in allocating plots.
An HC bench comprising of Justice Md. Ruhul Quddus and Justice Mahmudul Huq passed the order after hearing on a rule. Adv Joynul Abedin and adv Sagir Hossain Leon stood for Mirza Abbas, while Khurshid Alam Khan stood for the ACC.
Talking to reporters, Sagir Hossain Leon said there is no legal bar to Mirza Abbas’s release from jail after the HC order. On February 8, the HC issued a rule to explain why Mirza Abbas would not be given permanent bail in the case.
Earlier on February 15, the BNP leader secured bail from the HC in two separate arson cases filed with Motijheel and Paltan police stations.
