Bangabandhu DPL Cricket: Abahani win, Mohammedan lose

Dhaka Abahani Limited defeated Shinepukur Cricket Club by 25 runs, according to the Duckworth/ Lewis Method in their rain-interrupted match of the Bangabandhu Dhaka Premier League (DPL) Cricket at the BKSP Ground-4 in Savar on Thursday.
Abahani Limited collected 10 points from six matches.
Sent into bat first, Dhaka Abahani Limited piled up a mammoth total of 183 for the loss of five wickets in 20 overs and then Shinepukur Cricket Club had a revised target of149 runs to win in 17 overs. Shinepukur scored 123 runs for the loss of five wickets in 17 overs.
Abahani had a good start as openers Naeem Sheikh and Afif Hossain put on together 111 runs in the opening stand.
Opener Naeem Sheikh hammered a superb 70. His 50-ball innings was ornamented with four sixes and four fours.
Afif Hossain hit a marvelous 54. His 42-ball knock was laced with four sixes and three fours.
Najmul Hossain Shanto made 18 from nine balls featuring two sixes, while Mohammad Saifuddin scored 14 runs from 10 balls including one six and one four.
Left-arm spinner Tanvir Islam of Shinepukur Cricket Club was his team’s most successful bowler. He captured four wickets instead of 23 runs.
Later, Mahidul Islam of Shinepukur Cricket Club remained unbeaten with 31. His 15-ball knock was laced with four sixes, while Towhid Hridoy made 36 from 32 balls. Opener Tanzid Hasan Tamim scored 29 runs from 35 balls. Besides, Robiul Islam hit 22 from 17 balls.
Mohammad Saifuddin of Dhaka Abahani Limited claimed three wickets in the space of 12 runs.
Meanwhile, Dhaka Mohammedan Sporting Club Limited lost to Legends of Rupganj by nine wickets in their match of the Bangabandhu Dhaka Premier League (DPL) Cricket at the Sher-e-Bangla National Cricket Stadium in the city’s Mirpur on Thursday.
Batting first Dhaka Mohammedan Sporting Club Limited scored 113 runs for the loss of nine wickets in the allotted 20 overs.
In reply, Legends of Rupganj romped home making 114 for the loss of one wicket when they had 11 balls to spare.
Shuvagata Hom of Mohammedan Sporting Club clubbed a windy 52. His 32-ball innings had five sixes and one four.
Later, Pinak Ghosh of Legends of Rupganj hit a run-a-ball 55 (not out), while Mehedi Hasan Maruf made 41.
