Abahani Limited confirmed a quarterfinals berth as group A runners up while they edged past Soccer Club Feni by a solitary goal in the Federation Cup Football held on Tuesday at Bangabandhu National Stadium.
Abahani’s English midfielder Lee Tuck scored one of the quickest goals of the domestic football tournament when he struck with his left foot in the very 45th second of the match. Nabib Newaz Jibon kicked the ball off to his striking partner Sunday Chizoba who cut a neat cross to onrushing Lee Tuck at
the right flank, Lee Tuck swept past his marker and placed the ball into the far post net with a curving left footer.
Sunday Chizoba wasted an easy scoring chance for Abahani to double the score line in the 19th minute when his placing of a back heel missed the side post by a few inches, source BFF online.
Late in the first half, Feni Soccer forward Akbar Hossain Ridon broke free into the Abahani defense but shot straight to Abahani goalie Shahidul Alam Sohel.
Abahani’s midfielder Lee Tuck’s cracking shot was punched to safety by Soccer goalie Sujan Chowdhury in the 81st minute.
With the day’s win, Abahani bagged three points from two matches while Feni Soccer remained at their previous collection of one point from two outings.
