Dhaka Abahani Limited recruited Dhananjaya de Silva of Sri Lanka for Dhaka Abahani Limited who will play in the Super League of Bangabandhu Dhaka Premier Division Cricket League (DPL).
Earlier, Dhaka Abahani Limited included Hanuma Vihari of India and Najibullah Zadran of Afghanistan in their squad to play in the single league of the DPL. But Zadran left Abahani after playing two matches. Hanuma Vihari played eight matches for Abahani Limited. Though Hanuma Vihari shone with the willow but Vihari failed to shine with the cherry. So, Dhaka Abahani Limited have included Dhananjaya de Silva of Sri Lanka in their squad for the upcoming Super League matches of DPL.
After two seasons, the participating clubs of DPL have got permission to include foreign recruits in their squad. The DPL began on March 15. A good number of cricketers from India, Pakistan, Sri Lanka were playing in the single league of DPL.
Reigning champions Dhaka Abahani Limited recruited Hanuma Vihari who got success in his batting performance. Hanuma Vihari scored 324 runs including one century and two half-centuries. But Vihari failed to show satisfactory performance in bowling for Dhaka Abahani Limited.
Meanwhile, Sheikh Jamal Dhanmondi Club Limited led the points table collecting 18 points from 10 matches, while Dhaka Abahani Limited took the second position with 14 points from 10 matches.
