Dhaka Abahani Limited will take on ATK Mohun Bagan in their play-off match of the AFC Cup at Salt Lake Stadium in Kolkata, the former capital city of India today. The match will kick-off at 7.30pm (Bangladesh Standard Time). The winners of the play-off match between Dhaka Abahani Limited and ATK Mohun Bagan will get ticket to play the Group-D matches of the AFC Cup.
Dhaka Abahani Limited collected 22 points from 11 matches in the TVS Bangladesh Premier League (BPL) Football, the most prestigious domestic football competition of Bangladesh. Dhaka Abahani Limited became second in the first phase of BPL Football. Dhaka Abahani Limited clinched the BPL title for six times. They became champions 12 times in Federation Cup Football. They also got success in India. They won Bordoloi Trophy in 2010 and clinched Sait Nagjee Trophy in 1989.
On the other hand, ATK Mohun Bagan of India have always dominated in the Indian football competitions.
Before today’s match, Dhaka Abahani Limited got walkover against Valencia Club of Maldives in their preliminary round match at Sylhet District Stadium in Sylhet on April 12.
On the other hand, ATK Mohun Bagan blanked Blue Star Club of Sri Lanka in their preliminary round match at Salt Lake Stadium in Kolkata on April 12.
Bashundhara Kings of Bangladesh, Gokulam Kerela FC of India and Maziya Sports & Recreation Club of Maldives have already confirmed their Group-D berth. The Group-D matches will be held on single league basis. The Group-D matches will be held at Kolkata from May 18 to May 24. The champions of the Group-D will play in the final round of AFC Cup.
