Abahani finish BPL campaign with unbeaten champions

Defending champions Dhaka Abahani Limited finished their Bangladesh Premeir League (BPL) football campaign with a unbeaten champions as they beat Rahmatganj Muslim and Friends Society by 3-1 goals held on Friday at Bangabandhu National Stadium.
In the day’s match, Congolese forward Siyo Zunapiyo put Rahmatganj ahead in the 22nd minute heading a home cross from Alauddin while Nabib Newaz Jibon restored the parity for Abahani in the 47th minute taking a back pass of English forward Jonathan David.
Jibon put Abahani ahead in the 49th minute with David again paving the way with a square pass from the right flank.
David completed the Abahani’s winning tally scoring the third goal in the third minute of stoppage time of the second half.
It’s overall the fifth silverware of Dhaka Abahani who won the BPL also in 2007, 2008-09, 2009-10 and 2011-12.
Sheikh Jamal has won the title twice and Sheikh Russel Krira Chakra once but none of them remained unbeaten till conclusion of the league. Dhaka Abahani entered the record book as the first unbeaten champions of BPL.
BFF president Kazi Salahuddin was present as the chief guest in the match and distributed the prizes.
