Opener Anamul Haque hit a magnificent ton as table topper Abahani Limited continued their domination in the fifth round of Dhaka Premier Division Cricket League with a 47-run victory over Sheikh Jamal Dhanmondi Club on Thursday at BKSP ground No.4 in Savar.
The wicket-keeper batsman Anamul contributed 116-run off 122-ball that contained six boundaries and four over boundaries, during the process he also shared a useful 121-run fifth wicket stand with Mosaddek Hossain who chipped away 49 runs, after Abahani suffered wobble in the beginning of the innings .
Later, Mehidy Hasan Miraz (34 n.o) and Sunzamul Islam (24) made a quick fire to take Abahani to a commanding position.
Robiul Haque was the most successful bowler as he claimed three Abahani’s wickets conceding 47 runs.
In reply, Sheikh Jamal were all out for 223 in 45.3 overs, despite a fighting knock by skipper Nurul Hasan’s breezy 61-ball off 81-run. Sheikh Jamal lost wickets in regular intervals and failed to build any effective partnership during their chase. Jalaj S Saxena (43) and Shykat Ali (31) were the other notable scorers for Sheikh Jamal.
Speedster Mashrafe Bin Mortaza grabbed five wickets conceding 29 runs and was named the player of the match along with Anamul Haque.
