Former South Africa great AB de Villiers, who retired from international cricket earlier this year, is likely to represent Lahore Qalandars during the fourth edition of Pakistan Super League (PSL).
According to media reports, the Protea wicketkeeper-batsman will fill in the void of Brendon McCullum as Lahore’s skipper. McCullum, who had been the captain of the franchise in last two seasons but finished bottom on both occasions, has decided to part ways with the Lahore-based side.
The former captain of Black Caps took the Twitter to make the announcement writing, “A big thank you to @lahoreqalandars for the past 2 seasons. Today we have parted ways but I leave with fond memories and friendships. I wish you all the best in the future. To the Rana family, a special thank you. Our friendship will always remain. @thePSLt20”.
McCullum played 18 games for Lahore but failed to leave a mark as a player, with his highest individual score across those 18 matches is only 44.
The Lahore Qalandars will make the first pick during the draft on November 20 because of finishing last in the previous edition of the competition.
Meanwhile, Umar Akmal and Sunil Narine will be moving from Lahore Qalandars to Quetta Gladiators as part of a blockbuster trade between the two PSL sides. In return, pace bowler Rahat Ali and young left-arm spinner Hassan Khan have moved from Quetta Gladiators to Lahore Qalandars
The fourth edition of PSL will start from February 14th, 2019 with eight matches being scheduled to be held in Pakistan.
