Zee Media Bureau, New Delhi :
A day after the Delhi police arrested Aam Aadmi Party leader Dilip Pandey and two other party members on the charge of promoting enmity between different communities here, the AAP claimed that they were being framed.
The three members of AAP were called by police for questioning in connection with pasting of posters in Jamia Nagar area of south Delhi appealing the Muslims to “gherao” the house of three Congress legislators of the same community for “shaking hands with RSS and the BJP”. They were later arrested.
Addressing a press conference, former Delhi minister and Aam Aadmi Party leader Manish Sisodia said the party had nothing to do with controversial posters.
Sisodia further alleged that police was harassing his party members under the pressure of the BJP. “Dilip has been framed,” the former minister said, accusing the BJP of conspiring against the party leaders.
Another AAP leader Gopal Rai said, “If the BJP thinks that by arresting our leaders it can form a government in Delhi, then that won’t be allowed at any cost. We will pay any price but won’t let the BJP form a corrupt government in Delhi.”
Terming the whole incident as “revenge politics”, AAP leader Sanjay Singh said that his party supporters will come out on roads and protest against the incident.
Saying that Prime Minister Narendra Modi had been using this style to target political opponents in Gujarat when he was the CM, Singh said the BJP wanted to make Delhi another Gujarat.
He also alleged that a fake video was circulated to flare up communal tension in Muzaffarnagar late last year.
A case under Section 153 A (Promoting enmity between different groups on grounds of religion) and 295A (Deliberate and malicious acts, intended to outrage religious feelings of any class by insulting its religion or religious beliefs) of the Indian Penal Code has been registered.
