A young man named Sakhawat Hossain (28) died at Sapahar in Naogaon in the dead of winter while fishing in Beel.
It is learned that Sakhawat went fishing at Jabai Beel in Mahil Kalinder area of the traditional Jabai Beel of the upazila on Monday night. When it was very cold at night, he lost consciousness on the bank of the bill and fell to the ground and died there. On Tuesday morning, people went to the area and saw Sakhawat’s body lying on the ground. When they informed the local police station, the police went to the spot at around 1pm and recovered his body and brought it to the police station.
Locals and police believe he died of severe cold. Sapahar Police Station Officer-in-Charge (OC) Tarequr Rahman Sarkar said the deceased may have tried to light a fire to ward off the cold just before his death. Fish and fish storage containers were found. AUD case has been filed in the local police station.
