Around three million Hajj pilgrims of different nationalities from all over the world gathers in particular areas of Saudi Arabia to perform Holy Hajj every year. Due to extreme hot weather and a huge number of gatherings in specific areas are the cause of frequent sickness for thousands of pilgrims is very natural. It is very challenging to ensure their Medical facilities and comfortable stay during this time. Mass movement in a congested environment will challenge any Health Care structure whatever efficient it is. The government of Saudi Arabia has developed its own Health Care system to ensure smooth services at the time of need for the sick Hajj pilgrims. Right from the beginning of the arrival of the pilgrims to the end of their departure Saudi Government ensures all kinds of Medical facilities to the Guests of Allah very smoothly free of cost.
There are numerous Hospitals, Clinics and Health Care Centres with combined capacity of 5,000 Beds including 500 CCU & 500 ICU dedicated for Hajj Pilgrims medical facilities. The Health Care Services to Hajj pilgrims starts immediate after there arrival at the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia.
In Jeddah there are lot of Hospitals & Clinics including King Fahad Hospital, King Faisal Specialized Hospital, King Abdul Aziz University Hospital, King Khaled Eye Hospital etc to provide Health Care Services to the Hajj pilgrims.
There are 32 Beds inside the Grand Mosque for the emergency Health Services & 6 Medical Teams stationed at the central area for rapid intervention to deal with the Emergency cases inside the Grand Mosque. At the Holy Haram there are 2 Emergency Centres, one at the King Fahad expension Area and the other at the basement of the Grand Mosque. Ajjyad Emergency Madical Clinic which is very near to Holy Haram has 35 Beds, receiving patients round the clock from Haram area. In order to ensure Health Services to the Hajj pilgrims in Makkah, They have adequate number of Hospitals and clinics. Remarkable Hospitals are- King Abdul Aziz Hospital, King Faisal Hospital, Al Noor Specialized Hospital, Hera General Hospital, Maternity & Child Hospital, IBN Sina Hospital, King Abdullah Medical City.
Mina, Arafa, Muzdalifah are prepared in Advance to receive millions of Hajj pilgrims & deliver their Health Care Services. At Mina, Arafah & Muzdalifah they have their own dedicated Hospitals having 600 beds as well as number of satellite clinics located every few hundred yards. There are Three main Hospitals at Mina Area, Armed Forces Hospital, Mina Al Wadi hospital & Mina Al Jasar Hospital. The Mina Al Jasar is the largest & has Intensive Care Unit. Also they have other Hospitals at Arafa & Muzdalefa area these are-Arafat General Hospital, Jabal Al Rahma Hospital, Namirah Hospital, East of Arafat Hospital etc.
At Madinah there are scores of Good Hospitals dedicated for Health Care Services of Hajj pilgrims- Al Ansar Hospital, King Fahad Hospital, Miqat Hospital, Ohod Hospital, Addar Hospital. The main Hospital serving to the pilgrims of Madinah is the Al Ansar Hospital located on the Outer Ring Road towards the north east of Masjid Al Nabawi.
The Ministry of Health Saudi Arabia is implementing the ‘save life’ programme which provides free specialized Health Services including Open Heart Surgery, Cardiac Cathetetrization, Peritoneal and Blood dialysis, Gastrointestinal Endoscopy & Birth is free of cost.
An Indian Woman named Shahin Karbar became first pilgrim to deliver a baby girl at Holy Makka’s Maternity and Child Hospital this year-2018. Nine Women pilgrims of different nationalities delivered babies during last year Hajj-2017. Female patient if they have any Gynecological issues and for Child Care there are Maternity and Child Care Hospitals available in both place Holy Makkah and Madinah.
King Abdullah Medical City has done 20 Open Heart Surgery of Bangladeshi Hajj pilgrims in this year Hajj-2018. Also many more Bangladeshi Hajj pilgrims got Heart Stent (Angioplasty) and other major operations, investigations free of cost. Thirty Eight Bangladeshi Hajj Pilgrims are still hospitalized in several Hospitals in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia.
Government of Kingdom of Saudi Arabia has organized huge network for the Health Care Services for the Hajj pilgrims that provide all kinds of medical facilities. Saudi Health Ministry has prepared a fleet of 100 Ambulances at 80 highly equipped big Ambulances having life support and ICU facility.
Health Ministry has assigned nearly 3000 medical practitioners with latest Global Health Technologies in this Hajj in collaboration with World Health Organization (WHO). All kinds of Medical facilities for Hajj pilgrims is free of cost including inpatient Hospital stay, Diagnosis, Medicine, Food & attendant living cost as well as for the out patients services.
