A student of class X of Faridganj Gollak High School under Faridganj Upazila has got a Toyota brand Private Car (cost Tk 15 lakhs) as he has won the 1st Prize in the lottery held at midnight on 20July last at the end of the month long Punak Shilpo O Ponno Mela-22, that concluded at night on 20 July at the Outer Stadium in the town. His name is Anik Sarker (16)- son of Roni Sarker- from a middle class family at Gollak area in Gupti union of the Upazila.
Expressing his reactions, with all smiles ,Anik said , he had bought 10 tickets costing Tk 20 each in the afternoon on 20 July with a view to trying his luck. When the lottery’s 1st prize’s result was declared, he was excited to hear that he has got the first prize. It is a Toyota brand car kept just beside the mela area and pandel. At this, his , his father’s and friends’ joys knew no bounds. Same was the case with his close kin.
On Thursday afternoon, on behalf of the Police Nari Kollan Association (Punak), Sadar Model Thana’s OC Abdur Rashid has handed over the car’s key to winner Anik Sarker in presence of the newsmen and others. But alas ! Anik has no house/ garage nor any space at home to keep the car! Then he was left with no other means/option than selling the car. Later on , a keenly interested UP Chairman Mohammad Shahjahan Patwary of the Upazila has bought the car for Tk13 lakhs.
