A murder case, but the accused at large

Though a case has been registered with Panchbibi Police Station for brutally torturing and killing Sumaiya Akhter, daughter of a freedom fighter family, the accused have become helpless as the police have not yet arrested any accused. Theyt rather are threatening to withdraw the case.
The family of the deceased Sumaiya demanded immediate arrest of the accused at a press conference held at Panchbibi Press Club on Friday noon.
In a written statement, Rabiul Alam Liton, the father of the deceased Sumaiya, said that Rabiul Islam Liton, the youngest son of the late Dr. Saidur Rahman, the then Member of Parliament (Joypurhat-Panchbibi) of Balighata Bazar in Panchbibi town of Joypurhat, married his daughter Sumaiya Akter with Johny, 32.
After the marriage, son-in-law Johnny used to torture his wife Sumaiya for dowry. Johnny later demanded another Rs 5 lakh dowry. On the night of August 8, Johnny tortured his wife to death and hung her with a house fan for not paying.
Thinkings he was dead, Johnny left his wife on the floor. Sumaiya was later rescued in a critical condition and admitted to Bogra Shajimek Hospital. Sumaiya died on the night of August 8 under treatment there.
Sumaiya’s father Liton went to the Panchbibi police station to file a murder case against the two accused in the incident. Later, the police filed a case under the Women and Children repression Prevention Act.
