A mobile court has fined a man Tk One lakh for illegally cutting down a hill in Kapasia, Gazipur. Assistant Commissioner (Land) Tanvir Farhad Shamim conducted the operation in Fulbaria area of Durgapur union in Kapasia upazila of Gazipur on Monday after receiving complaints from locals. Abdus Salam, the owner of the land, was fined Tk One lakh under the Balumahal and Soil Management Act-2010. AC Land said the place looks a lot like a red clay hill. Tila land is privately owned but Matikata is illegal. He further said that they have been fined for cutting the soil. However, they can cut soil from other lands for their own work.
