Nur-e-Alam, Judge of Anti-Women and Children Repression Tribunal-2, Bagerhat, in a judgment delivered on Tuesday noon convicted a minor accused Hasan Rashid Mridha (13) and sentenced him to suffer simple imprisonment for 5 years on the charge of his involvement in the murder of a Madrasa girl student. In the judgment the learned judge directed the concerned authorities to confine him in a children reformatory instead of jail hajat till the end of his imprisonment U/s 34 of Children Act of 2013. The convicted boy is the son of one Md. Tofazzal Hossain Mridha of village Paschim Baharbunia under Morrelganj Upazila in Bagerhat district. Hasan Rashid Mridha’s grand father Moktar Mridha (75) and grand mother Monoara Begum (65) are also accused of the murder case. They are being tried in another court.
The prosecution story, in short, is that on July 02 afternoon in the year 2019 miscreants killed Madrasa student Hira Aktar (13) and daughter of one Gaus Shaikh of the same village in her house taking the opportunity of the absence of her parents from the house. Then they miscreants made her naked and hanged the dead body with a beam of the house. In this connection deceased’s mother Nasima Begum registered a murder case with Morrelganj PS on July 03. On August 14 in the same year police arrested Hasan Mridha, Moktar Mridha and his wife Manoara Begum. Police investigated into the matter and submitted a charge sheet to the court on November 18 in the year. On November 25 of the year the case against Hasan Rashid Mridha was sent to Anti Women and Chidren Repression Tribunal-2. The learned judge after examining the witnesses and the evidences found accused Hasan Rashi guilty and awarded him the aforesaid punishment u/s 302/34 of the Penal Code Act of 1860.
