A female witness will testify against Syed Mohammad Qaiser, charged with committing crimes against humanity during the War of Libetaion, on April 9 at International Crimes Tribunal (ICT)-2 in camera.
The ICT-2 accepted a plea of the prosecution in this regard and gave permission to three counsels from each side-both prosecution and defence to be present at the courtroom. Prosecutor Advocate Rana Dasgupta in his plea mentioned that the witness is an elderly woman, who was violated during the War of Liberation, and her deposition should be recorded in camera. The ICT-2 then accepted the plea and asked all the parties for not disclosing her identity at any cost.
Meanwhile, Advocate Abdus Subhan Tarafder, counsel for Qaiser, on Sunday concluded cross-examining fourth prosecution witness (PW), Mohammad Ali Pathan.
Pathan had testified against the accused on April 3, accusing him of carrying out atrocities along with his followers from “Qaiser Bahini” in and around Habiganj.
Qaiser, the former state-minister for agriculture was indicted by the ICT-2 on February 2, 2014, for 16 counts of crimes against humanity.
