9th Wage Board for journos soon: Quader

Road Transport and Bridges Minister Obaidul Quader on Saturday said that the government would take initiative to implement the 9th Wage Board for journalists soon.
Obaidul Quader, who is the Convener of newly formed cabinet committee for wage board implementation, said this after a meeting with the leaders of the Newspaper Owners Association, in the conference room of Information Ministry.
The other members of the committee Home Minister Asaduzzaman Khan, Agriculture Minister Mohammad Abdur Razzaque, Information Minister Hasan Mahmud, Industries Minister
Nurul Majid Mahmud Humayun, State Minister for Cultural Affairs KM Khalid and State Minister for Labour and Employment Begum Monnujan Sufian, were present at the meeting, among others.
 “The government had already almost finalised the 9th wage board award for the journalists,” he said.
 “We have a plan to hold more meetings with the journalist leaders before the announcement and we expect cooperation from all stockholders of the wage board,” the minister said.
Information Minister Hasan Mahmud, said that government is considering to induct the journalists of the private television channels under the proposed 9th Wage Board.
The new seven-member cabinet committee was formed in the first cabinet meeting of the newly formed government on January 21.
According to the terms of reference, the committee will submit its report by January 28, 2019.
