The 9th conference of the Forum of the Election Management Bodies of South Asia (FEMBoSA), formed with eight election commissions of the SAARC region, will begin in the city today.
Jatiya Sangsad (JS) Speaker Dr Shirin Sharmin Chaudhury will inaugurate the two-day event as the chief guest at Radisson Blu Dhaka Water Garden at 9 am, Joint Secretary of the Election Commission Secretariat SM Asaduzzaman said.
Chief Election Commissioner of Bangladesh KM Nurul Huda will preside over the conference that will end on September 7, he said.
A total of 21 representatives from the election commissions of India, Pakistan, Sri Lanka, Afghanistan, Nepal, Bhutan and the Maldives will take part in the meeting.
The FEMBoSA was formed under the auspices of Bangladesh Election Commission in 2010.
Earlier, the 8th conference of the forum was held in Kabul, Afghanistan from September 24 to 25, 2017.
