Ninety-nine new books hit stalls at the Amar Ekushey Book Fair on Tuesday, the 11th day of the fair.
Of them, 11 were storybooks, 16 novels, 10 essay books, 30 poems, two research, three children literature, five biography, two on Liberation War, one on science, three on travel, four on politics, two on religious, two on history, one dictionary and nine on other subjects.
The new books are Tomir Binashi Batighar by Md Sulaiman Bhuiyan, Lilabotir Mrittu by Humayun Ahmed, Jibon Nandi by Shahnaj Bithi, Tobu Phool Phote by Jahangir Rana, Metho Sur by Rokhsana Rafique, Kothiner Karikathe by Taslima Nasrin, Bhalobashlei Bhalobasha Hoy Na by Sanwar Khan Sujon, Somudrer Mahabishoy and Bhalobasha Ciler Chayar Moto by Shamsuddoha Salim, Jamunar Dui Meye 0 Hangor by Sanwar Hossain, Bigyaner Lagshoi Project by Soumen Shaha, Mahakasher Ajana Kotha by Sumon Islam, Ekattorer Jibon 0 Juddha by Shyamsundor Sikder, Padmabatio Ghati by Kamrun Nahar Sheli, Bangladesher Shamprotik Rajniti by RAM Obaidul Moktadir Chowdhury, Udasin Pathiker Moner Kotha by Mir Mosharraf Hossain, Bachai Kobita by Jakir Abu Jafar, Shomoyer Dabi by MH Apurba, Jokhon Bishad Chueche by Nahar Bakul, Akaki Nirjone by Abdur Razzak, Kothamala by Biswajit Ghosh and
Bhalobashar Rongdhonu by Shamsun Nahar Zaman.
Meanwhile, the publishers said that the presence of the visitors in the fair was not satisfactory. It had impact on sales of books.
Shajahan Abdali of Gronthakanon Prokashoni said, the sales of books would be better tomorrow.
A discussion on “Habibullah Bahar Chowdhury” was held in the main podium of the fair at 4pm yesterday. Finance Minister Abul Maal Abdul Muhith presided over the programme while Salimullah Khan presented a keynote paper. Mohammad Abdul Quiyyum, Kazi Madina and Khushi Kabir discussed the programme.
A fascinating cultural programme was held in the evening participated, among others, by Biswajit Ray, Badiar Rahman, Rina Majumder, Shafiul Alam Raja, Lutu Sarker, Jasim Uddin Sajal and Aslam Miah.
Discussion on “Banglar Nabojagorone Mohammad Rawshan Ali Chowdhury” will be held on the main stage today.
Dr Maniruzzaman will preside over the programme while Israfil Khan will present the keynote paper.
Shakhawat Ali Khan, Shafiul Alam and Rahman Habib will be present there as the discussants.
