At least 986 children were killed in various incidents including rape, murder, torture and road accidents across the country last year (2019).
Among the victims, around 553 were killed in road accidents, 252 in drowning, and 361 in were murdered, tortured or raped, the report added.
The reports were disclosed at a press conference held in city’s Jatiya Press Club on Tuesday.
Manusher Jonno Foundation (MJF), a national non- government organization (NGO), prepared the report based on several national news papers from January to December 2019.
Speaking at the media, MJF claimed said the number of violence against children is increasing everyday due to delay in punishment delivery, which is frightening us.
“The incidents are occurring one after another, but there are no advantages of justice. As a result, the offenders are thinking there will be no justice,” she said.
Besides, the children are not even safe in their homes and educational institutions, where they spent the larger time.
