98 taxpayers accorded reception in Rajshahi, Rangpur

High officials of National Board of Revenue (NBR) on Wednesday stressed on inspiring all eligible citizens for spontaneous payment of income tax to build a developed Bangladesh for the next generations.
They came up with the remark at two separate functions in Rajshahi and Rangpur.
The NBR has accorded receptions to 42 highest taxpayers in seven categories in Rajshahi and 56 highest taxpayers of six districts and Rangpur City Corporation (RCC) under Taxes Zone of Rangpur as recognition to their contribution to boost the national revenue.
On the occasion, Commissioner’s Office of Rajshahi Income Tax Zone hosted a divisional level reception and crest-giving function at Shaheed AHM Kamaruzzaman Zila Parishad Auditorium with the main thrust of inspiring the taxpayers to pay more tax and boosting the number of taxpayers.
A large number of taxpayers including members of the civil society, professional leaders and tax lawyers were present at the function.
Commissioner of Rajshahi division Humayun Kabir Khondokar and Customs, Excise and VAT Commissioner Lutfor Rahman addressed the ceremony as chief and special guests respectively with Dr Khandakar Ferdous Alam, Commissioner of Income Taxes, in the chair.
Tax Appellate Commissioner Md Masud, Joint Commissioner Ashique Rana, President of Rajshahi Chamber of Commerce and Industries Md Muniruzzaman and President of Income tax Lawyers Association Mozaharul Haque also spoke.
Humayun Kabir underscored the need for creating mass awareness about more income tax collection in the greater interest of making the country economically self-reliant.
He said many of the affordable people of the society are still afraid of income tax payment due to misconception and wrong counseling by frauds.
