Chittagong district police in a series of overnight drives arrested 98 persons, including seven Jammaate Islami and Chhatra Shibir activists, from different upazilas of the district on Sunday night.
Abdul Awal, Additional Superintendent of Police (Special Branch) of Chittagong district, said police detained the 98 persons from different upazilas of the district for their alleged involvement in sabotage acts and vandalism. Police also recovered 722 pieces of contraband yaba tablets and 176 litres of country-made liquors during the drives. The detainees also included 75 persons who were under warrant of arrest and 16 others accused in regular cases, he said.
