As many as 97 marks of injury were found throughout the body of Raihan Ahmed who died of inhuman torture under police custody in Sylhet, reveals the postmortem report.
“The marks of injury indicate that Raihan was beaten two to four hours before his death. He died of numerous bleeding inside his body,” the report says.
After the second postmortem of Raihan’s body on Thursday, Dr Shamsul Islam, Head of the Department of Forensic Medicine at MAG Osmani Medical College Hospital in Sylhet handed over the forensic report to the Police Bureau of Investigation (PBI).
In his report, Dr Shamsul Islam mentioned about dozens of marks of injury throughout Raihan’s body.
He said it would take time to prepare a complete postmortem report. “We’ve just given a preliminary forensic report.”
According to the forensic report, Raihan died at 7:50pm. His abdomen was empty when he died. He was beaten mercilessly two to four hours before his death.
Raihan Ahmed, son of late Rafiqul Islam of Neharipara in Akhalia of Sylhet city, was picked up at about 3:30am on October 11 last and taken to Bandarbazar Police Outpost of Sylhet Metropolitan Police (SMP) where e was tortured mercilessly under police custody till early in the morning. Critically injured Raihan was admitted to Sylhet MAG Osmani Medical College Hospital in the morning where he succumbed to his injuries. After burial of Raihan, PBI exhumed his body on Thursday for a second postmortem. After the postmortem, his body was buried again.
