96 criminals surrender in C’ Bazar

A total of 96 alleged criminals from 12 groups on Saturday surrendered with huge firearms and ammunition, promising to return to normal life.
The criminals, including members of different pirates and robbers gangs and terrorists, in Moheshkhali, Kutubdia, Pekua and Chakaria have surrendered with their weapons (155 fire arms and 273) bullets, reports our district correspondent.
They have formally surrendered to Home Minister Asaduzzaman Khan at a programme at Karmarchhara  
Govt Primary School in Maheshkhali upazila in the district on Saturday morning.
The families of 96 people were given Tk 50,000 each from the government.
Inspector General of Police (IGP) Mohammad Javed Patwary and other top police officials of the district were also present on the occasion.
Cox’s Bazar Additional Superintendent of Police Mohammad Iqbal Hossain said that ringleaders and their cohorts, including Zia Bahini, Kala Jahangir Bahini, Mahmuduallh Bahini, Siraj Bahini, Mujib Bahini and Kalu Bahini, gave in to the police in the programme.
