In last three months , a total of 950 civil and criminal cases have been settled in Chandpur District Judge’s Court.
Of the above settled cases, 94 are civil cases and the rest 856 cases are criminal cases.
This was revealed by the District and Sessions Judge Md Zulfiquer Ali Khan when he presented an official report in a daylong 2nd Judicial Conference of the year, held at the Conference Room of the District Judge’s Court held recently.
The District Judge’s Office organised it attended by Additional and Sessions Judge Md Sarwar Alam, Assistant Judge of the Court Asma Jahan, Additional Chief Judicial Magistrate Syed Kaiser Yusuf, Senior Judicial Magistrate, Judicial Magistrates, Chandpur General Hospital Supervisor Dr Md Anwarul Azim, Additional SP Mizanur Rahman, Chandpur District Bar President Adv Sk Jahirul Islam, General Secretary Adv Shahadat Hossain, PP Adv Amanullah, Special PP of Nari O Shishu Nirjaton Domon Tribunal Court Adv Habibul Islam Talukder and concerned other officials.
Talking to this correspondent on Tuesday afternoon, the District and Sessions Judge Md Zulfiquer Ali Khan has said that ‘a total of 28210 cases are still pending /under-trial in the court. Of them, 14 thousand cases are about land and land- survey related cases and the rest of 14210 cases are Civil and Criminal cases’.
Replying to a question as to ‘How would you settle and remove the case-jam ?’, the District and Sessions Judge has replied saying , ‘We are trying our level best to settle up the above mentioned pending civil and criminal cases as quickly as possible through ensuring justice for the justice-seekers so that they (justice- seeking – people) can have a sigh of great relief’.
Contacted, Public Prosecutor Alhaj Md Amanullah has also expressed the same views.
In addition to these cases, the District and Sessions Judge has said, there are a total of about one thousand and seven hundred cases filed from time to time by people under Nari O Shishu Nirjaton Domon Act (Prevention of Repression on Women and Children Act) and these cases are also waiting/ pending for trial in the tribunal court.
He again said, the cases, filed under Nari O Shishu Nirjaton Domon Act would be handled and settled by the tribunal court.
