Principals of 95 government colleges across the country have been upgraded from grade four to grade three in order to ensure administrative discipline.
The approval was given in the secretary committee meeting relating to administrative development on Sunday.
Sources said that the existing post of the principal under the BCS (general education) cadre was a fourth grade post and there were no scope to upgrade it to third grade through the selection grade.
