The High Court Division of the Supreme Court yesterday granted six-weeks’ bail to 94 BNP leaders and activists in two violence cases filed with some courts of Narayanganj and Madaripur districts.
The leaders include Nazrul Islam Azad, Assistant Secretary of BNP’s International Affairs, and Anisur Rahman Talukder Khokon, Assistant Secretary of Mass Education of the party.
The bench of Justice Obaidul Hassan and

Petitioner’s lawyer, Advocate Sagir Hossain Leon told the journalists that police filed a case with Araihazar Police Station of Narayanganj against 87 BNP leaders and activists including Nazrul Islam Azad on charge of interrupting police and preventing them from discharging their duties during a programme organised on the occasion of BNP’s 39th founding anniversary. Among the accused BNP men, 86 got bail from the High Court earlier, Leon added. He also said, among the accused, eight were granted bail by the High Court Division yesterday.
