Dinajpur Board continues doing better in SSC: 93.26pc pass, 14,827 students get GPA-5

Dinajpur Education Board has achieved the highest pass percentage as well as the highest number of Grade Point Average GPA-5 since students under the board first appeared at the Secondary School Certificate (SSC) examinations six years ago.
This year, the pass rate is 93.26 per cent, which is 2.66 per cent higher than last year’s. The number of GPA-5 holders is 14,827, which was 8,186 last year.
Boys outdid girls in terms of GPA-5 while girls did slightly better in pass rate.
Of the 14,827 GPA-5 holders, 8,309 are boys and the rest 6,518 girls.
Last year, the numbers of boys and girls were 5,089 and 3,097 respectively. This year, the pass rates of girls and boys are 93.42 and 93.11 per cent. The pass rate of SSC under Dinajpur education board increased by 29.68 per cent since 2009 that saw 63.58 per cent pass, board officials said.
All the students of 661 schools under the board passed. Last year, the number of such institutions was 454. As many as 1,18,966 students of 2,510 schools of eight northern districts under the board registered for this year’s SSC examinations and 1,18,438 appeared. Of them 11,0458 students passed.
Md Tofazzur Rahman, controller of examinations of Secondary and Higher Secondary Education Board, Dinajpur said “The students under this education board did well as the board authorities took care of backward institutions.”
