Sathkhira District Police, in overnight special drives arrested 55 persons including three activists of Jamaat-e- Islami from seven upazilas of the district.
Sources with the district police said they were picked up from different areas of the district.
During the drives, Satkhira Sadar police arrested 24 persons with 33 pieces of Yaba tablets and 100 grams of Ganja, Kalaroa police eight, Tala police three, Kaliganj police four, Shyamnagar police 10, Assasuni police three, Patkelghata police two and Debhata police arrested one person. Kalaroa Thana police recovered six bottles of Phensidyl from the upazila during the period.
Meanwhile, Shyamnagar Thana police recovered two one shooter guns, two pipe guns and 19 bullets from the upazila.
Several cases, including charges of subversive activities, are pending with different police stations against the arrested persons, the sources added. The arrested were sent to jail this noon.
BSS from Narail adds: Police, in special drives from Monday night to this morning, arrested 36 persons including seven alleged drug traders, recovered 65 pieces of Yaba tablets and seized two motorcycles from four upazilas of the district.

Sources with the district police said, during the drives, Narail Sadar Thana police arrested 13 accused including three drug traders with 65 pieces of Yaba tablets, Lohagara Thana police 12 accused including two drug traders, Kalia police four including one drug trader and Noragati Thana police arrested seven accused including one drug trader.
Several cases, including charges of subversive activities, are pending with different police stations against the arrested persons, the sources added.
