Chittagong Port Authority destroyed 900 tons of imported apple, orange and export returned potatos at patenga area in city yesterday.
These perishable commodities are filled in 21 containers . As a part of destroying these commodities , a number of containers brought in Patenga No.15 ghat aimed at destroying inside the ground .
Till filing this report , more than 50% commodities were destroyed yesterday and the containers handed over to the shipping agents after clearing the rotten commodities.
As per directives of the National Board of Revenue, these imported and export returned commodities were destroyed in presence of the officials of Port, Customs, Environment Directorate and District administration. Among others, Port Executie Magistrate Md. Abul Hashem, District Executive Magistrate Monoara Begum, Asstt. Commissioner of Customs Md. Abul Kashem, Chapal Chakma were present on the occasion.
