Nine students were given Bangabandhu Higher Studies Scholarships worth Tk 4.08 lakh aimed at making their student life easier.
The scholarship was given on behalf of Rajshahi Zone of Uddipon, a non-government development organization, at the conference hall of Deputy Commissioner (DC) yesterday.
Among the recipients, seven medical and engineering students were given Taka 48,000 each, while two other public university students Taka 36,000 each.
DC Abdul Jalil distributed the bank cheques as chief guest saying the initiative of providing Bangabandhu Higher Studies Scholarship side by side with other social development activities of Uddipon is laudable.
Praising the initiative of standing beside the poor-helpless but meritorious students he expected the benevolent step will continue in the days to come.
Abdul Jalil mentioned that the present government under the dynamic and visionary leadership of Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina has been working relentlessly for quality development of higher education and urged all concerned to supplement the government endeavor.
Uddipon Zonal Manager Nurul Islam and other regional and branch managers were present.
