Chittagong Metropolitan Police (CMP) arrested nine members of two organized gangs of snatchers from Chatteswari area on Monday morning.
The arrested were identified as Mohammad Yousuf, 32, Kabir Hosain, 38, Ibrahim Mallik, 20, Monir Hosain, 20, Mamunur Rashid, 25, Karim, 27, Alim, 25, Monir, 20 and Titu, 27. On receipt of secret information, a team of the Chawkbazar police in separate drives arrested them from a hill at Chatteswari area under city’s Chawkbazar thana on Sunday night and Monday morning.
The arrested were the members of two organized gangs of snatchers who snatch away things from pedestrians on Chatteswari Road, said Aziz Ahmed, officer-in-charge (OC) of Chawkbazar police station.
