9 people killed, 49 hurt in recent train accidents

Nine people have killed in train accidents recently during the BNP-Jamaat enforced hartals and blockade programmes in the country.
Railways Minister Md. Mazibul Hoque informed this in Parliament while
responding to a supplementary question of Jatiya Samajtantrik Dal MP Nazmul Haque Prodhan (Panchagarh-1).
The Minister said that seven passengers were killed in train accidents as the ‘pro-hartal and pro-blockade pickets uprooted the rail tracks and fish-plates’. Some 49 persons were injured in these incidents.
Two Ansar-VDP personnel have been killed in the recent train accidents while seven received injuries, he said.
Mazibul Hoque informed the House that Bangladesh Railways incurred loss of Tk 90 crore in these ‘attacks by the pro-hartal and pro-blockade people’.
“All these attacks were launched at the instigation and directives of BNP leader Kahleda Zia,” he said.
