With the improvement of flood situation, the displaced people have started returning to their homes.
Flood situation in the Sylhet, Sunamganj, Netrokona, Kishoreganj, Brahmmanbaria, Kurigram, Gaibandha, Bogura, Sirajganj, Tangail and Jamalpur districts may improve in the next 24 hours.
There is chance of short duration of flood in the low-lying areas of Shariatpur and Madaripur districts in the next 24 hours, according to Flood Forecasting and Warning Centre (FFWC).
Meanwhile, nine more people have died due to various diseases and incidents caused by floods across the country.
According to the Directorate General of the Health Services (DGHS), a total of 82 people have died in 10 districts across the country. Of them, 51 people have died in Sylhet division alone. Besides, 18 people died in Sylhet district, 26 in Sunamganj, 4 in Moulvibazar and 3 in Habiganj.
A total of 27 people have died in Mymensingh division due to floods. Of them, 5 died in Mymensingh district, 9 in Netrokona, 9 in Jamalpur and 4 in Sherpur district.
Four people have died in the floods in Rangpur division. Of them, 3 died in Kurigram and 1 in Lalmonirhat district.
Water levels at 26 river stations monitored by Flood Forecasting and Warning Centre (FFWC) have marked rise while 78 stations recorded fall.
Among the 109 monitored stations, five river stations have been registered steady while water levels at 10 stations are flowing above the danger level, a bulletin issued by the FFWC said here today.
The Brahmaputra at Hatia, the Surma at Kanaighat and Sylhet, the Kushiyara at Amalshid, Sheola and Markuli, the Old Surma at Derai, the Baulai at Khaliajuri, the Someswari at Kalmakanda and the Titas at Brahmanbaria are flowing above danger level by 15cm, 83cm, 02cm, 179cm, 64cm, 04cm, 41cm, 26cm, 41cm and 29cm respectively.
Significant rainfall was recorded at some stations in different districts during the last 24 hours ending at 8.99 am today, the FFWC bulletin added.
According to the numerical weather forecast of meteorological department, except Teesta basin, heavy to very heavy rainfall inside Bangladesh and different upstream Indian regions is unlikely in the next 48 hours.
The Brahmaputa-Jamuna, Ganges-Padma, Dharala, Dudhkumar and all the major river of the north-eastern region of the country may continue falling in the next 48 hours, the FFWC bulletin said.
It also forecasted that there is a chance of medium to heavy rainfall in the sub-Himalayan West-Bengal (Jalpaiguri, Sikkim). As a result, the water level in Teesta river may remain close to danger level.
