At least nine people were killed and 20 others injured in separate road crashes in six districts of the country on Tuesday.
In Cumilla, a man and his four-year-old son were killed when a CNG-driven auto-rickshaw hit a tree after losing control over the steering on Comilla-Burichang Road in Adarsha sadar upazila yesterday morning.
The deceased were identified as Aminul Islam, 45, and Wafi Islam Nabil, 4.
Aminul’s wife Yasmin, 32, and daughter Afsana, 12, sustained injuries in the incident.
Burichang Police Station Officer-in-Charge Monoj Kumar Dey confirmed the matter to newsmen.
In another incident, two motorcyclists were killed in Barguna when a Passenger bus rammed their motorcycle. The accident took place in Kazirabad area on Barguna-Betagi road around 1:00pm yesterday. The deceased are Md. Aziz Sikder, 65, and Hanif Akon. Among the dead, Aziz Sikder died on the spot while Hanif Akon died at Betagi Hospital.
Police detained the killer bus and its driver Mintu. Betagi Police Station Officer-in-Charge Mamun Or Rashir confirmed the incident.
In Sylhet, a man was killed in a road accident in Dakshin Surma upazila of Sylhet district yesterday morning.
The deceased was identified as Kamrul Islam, 45. Details of the dead couldn’t be known instantly. Khairul Fazal, Officer in-Charge of Dakshin Surma Police Station confirmed the news to media.
Two people were killed in a clash between a passenger bus and pick-up van in Narsingdi. The accident occurred around 11:00am on Tuesday at Narsingdi’s Panchdonabazar area.
The deceased were identified as Akash Mia, 35, son of Said Mia of Monaderdi village and Rafiqul Islam, 21, resident of Shibpur Kharia village. Yousuf Ahammed, In-Charge of Pachdona Police Camp confirmed the news.
In Meherpur, a man named Khajmat Ali, 50, was killed in a road crash at Islamnagar Sadar upazila of the district on Tuesday
Officer-in-Charge of Meherpur Sadar Police Station OC Rabiul Islam confirmed the incident. In Khagrachhari, a motorcyclist named Al Amin was killed when a bus hit him in the district. The accident occurred at 9:00 am in Budangpara area of Khagrachari Guimara upazila.
The deceased Al Amin used to serve as a medical representive of Ibn Sina group. He is from Baradighighi village of Patuakhali Sadar upazila. Guimara Police Station OC Ghiyasuddin confirmed the news to media.
