9 killed in Tangail, Feni road accidents

Nine people were killed and nine others injured in Tangail and Feni districts on Wednesday.
In Tangail: Five people were killed and seven others injured in three separate road accidents on the Dhaka-Tangail highway in the early hours of Wednesday.
Police sources said three people died when a covered van rammed into a microbus near the Pakullah bus stand area of the highway in Mirzapur upazila.
The deceased have been identified as Hasan, 30, the driver of the microbus, his assistant Emon, 25, and passenger Golam Maula Shamim, 28. Another person also sustained injuries from the crash.
One person was killed and four others injured when two three-wheelers collided head-on near Akashpur by-pass area of the Dhaka-Tangail highway.
The deceased was identified as Khandaker Afzal Hussain, 38. The injured have been sent to Tangail General Hospital for treatment.
In another accident, a motorcyclist was killed after being crushed under the wheels of a truck at Hamidpur area of Ghatail upazila of the district on Wednesday morning, police said.
Ghatail Police Station (SI) Rajib Hossain Taludkar said Rezaul Karim was returning to his workplace in Dhaka on a motorcycle after Eid holidays. On his way to Hamidpur area, an unidentified vehicle ran over him and drove away. He died on the spot. The body of the deceased was later handed over to the family.
Meanwhile, two people sustained severe injuries when a mini truck lost control on the highway in Kortial Haat area and fell into a roadside ditch. The injured have been sent to Tangail General Hospital for treatment.
In Feni: Four people were killed and two others injured in a road accident in Shubhpur Bariapul area on the Dhaka-Chittagong old highway under Chhagalnaiya upazila of the district on Wednesday morning.
The deceased were identified as Md Arifur Rahman, of Jorarganj in Mirsarai upazila of Chittagong, Hajera Begum, wife of Gofran Miah, of Joydevpur village under Chhagalnaiya upazila, Kazi Shahidul Islam, 60, resident of Jagannath Sonapur village under the upazila and Nurul Islam, 55, resident of Amtali area in Sakhipur of Tangail district.
The accident occurred when a Korerhat-bound CNG coming from Chhagalnaiya collided head-on with a pickup, coming from the opposite direction, in the area around 11 am, leaving two persons dead on the spot and four others critically injured. Later, the injured were sent to Feni Sadar Hospital where two succumbed to their injuries, Dr. Saifur Rahman told BSS.
Wounded CNG-run auto-rickshaw driver Ayub, 28, was shifted to Chittagong Medical College Hospital as his condition deteriorated, Officer-in-Charge (OC) of Chhagalnaiya Police Station Shahidul Islam confirmed.
