The authorities of Jashore University of Science and Technology (JUST) have expelled nine students for ragging 12 first-year students. The decision was taken at a meeting after getting probe the committee report, said an office order issued Tuesday, signed by university Registrar Engineer Ahsan Habib.
Those expelled students are Oli Ullah, Mahmud Ullah, Razibul Haque Rajab Abdul Quader, Al Muzahid, Shahidul Islam, Rokonuzzaman Rokon, Anup Malakor, Shamim Biswas.
The accused nine students abused and humiliated twelve first-year students from February 4 to February 8.
Getting allegations brought by the victims, the authorities concerned of the university formed a three-member probe committee to look into the matter.
The probe committee found evidence of alleged ragging including sexual harassment against the accused after talking to 40 students including the 12 victims.
Besides, the probe body also found that the accused students have forced the victims to withdraw their allegations.
