Nine people were injured, four critically, as a fire broke out in a hardware shop at the city’s Tejturi Bazar on Thursday afternoon. Nilufar Yasmin, the duty officer at the Fire Brigade control room, said the fire broke out at the shop from an electric-short circuit around 3 pm.On information, two firefighting units rushed to the spot, rescued the injured people and put out the blaze around 3:40 pm. The injured were taken to Dhaka Medical College Hospital (DMCH). Among the injured, the condition of Abdul Latif, Ibrahim Khalil, Shafiul Azam and Motaleb was stated to be critical. Prof Dr Sazzad Khandaker of Burn and Plastic Surgery unit of DMCH said Abdul Latif sustained 96 percent burn injuries, while Ibrahim 91 percent and Shafiul Azam 95 percent.
