Nine houses were gutted as a fire broke out at Konabari Purbopara in the city on Friday night.
Jakir Hossain, senior official of Joydebpur Fire Service, said the fire broke out in the house of one Habibur Rahman around 10:45pm and soon engulfed nine adjoining houses.
On information, two firefighting units rushed in and doused the fire after two hours of frantic effort.
