A team of the Department of Narcotics Control (DNC) and the police in separate drives arrested nine persons and recovered 520 bottles of Indian Phensidyl syrup and 20,320 pieces of Yaba tablet in the city’s Mirpur, Bongshal and Kaptan Bazar areas on Tuesday and Wednesday respectively.
The arrested persons are Nazmul Biswash, 30, and Saiful, 25, from Kaptan Bazar area and Harun, 40, and Imon, 20, from Bongshal. Five persons were detained in the city’s Mirpur area and 20 thousand pieces of Yaba were
recovered from their possession in a drive on Tuesday, Officer in Charge of model thana Salauddin said. The drive was conducted at Monipuripara, Mirpur, he said.
The members of the team of the DNC personnel led by its inspector Azizul Haque conducted a drive at Kaptan Bazar under Wari Police Station in the morning, Having conducted a search, the team recovered 520 bottles of Phensidyl from a vehicle which was carrying mangoes.
He said that they recovered four baskets containing 520 bottles of Phensidyl from the pick-up van.
The team also arrested two persons — Nazmul Biswash and Saiful for their alleged involvement in the trading of Phensidyl.
In another drive, the team launched a drive on the North South Road in Bangshal on Tuesday night and arrested two persons. The arrested persons were identified as Harun and Imon. The team recovered 320 pieces of Yaba tablets from them from in front of a shop ‘Zahir Enterprise’.

On the other hand, police conducted a drive at Monipuri Para in the city’s Mirpur and detained 5 persons with and 20,000 pieces of Yaba tablet on Tuesday night. The name of the arrested persons could be known immediately.
Mirpur Model Police Station’s Officer-in-Charge (OC) Salahuddin confirmed the matter and said that police conducted a drive at Monipuri Para in the city’s Mirpur on Tuesday night and detained 5 persons with and 20,000 pieces of Yaba tablet.
