9 held with 1.10 lakh Yaba in Teknaf

Members of Border Guard Bangladesh and Coast Guard in separate drives sized 1.10 lakh Yaba tablets and arrested nine people from different parts of Teknaf upazila on Thursday.
Commanding officer of BGB-42 Lieutenant Colonel Abu Jar Al Zahid said a team of BGB led by Teknaf BoP Camp Nayek Subedar Abul Kalam conducted a drive in the no 3 sluice gate area of the Naf River and
recovered 50,000 Yaba tablets worth Tk 1.50 crore from the area early Thursday.
In another incident, a team of Coast Guard members in a drive arrested nine people along with 60,000 pieces of Yaba tablet and a fishing trawler at Chera Dwip in Saint Martin’s, four kilometres off the Bay of Bengal around 11 am on Thursday, said Coast Guard Station Commander Lieutenant Dixon Chowdhury.
The arrestees were identified as Mohammad Aziz, a boatman and son of late Abdul Kader, Abdur Nur, son of Mohammad Musa, Shafique, son of Thanda Mia, Nur Alam, son of Sale Ahmed, Hamid, son of Nagu Mia, Mainur Hossain, son of Subhan of Anwara upazila, Babul, son of Ismail of Banshkhali upazila, Mahiuddin, son of Cherag Ali of Lalmohon area in Bhola district. The arrestees have been taken to Saint Martin’s Jetty Ghat with the trawler.
