Police Wednesday claimed to have arrested as many as eight activists of Hefazat-e-Islam and a member of Jamaat-e-Islami for holding a secret meeting at a house in the Kashiram Munshir Bazar area of Kaliganj upazila late on Tuesday night.
Acting on a tip-off, a police team conducted a raid in the Kashiram Munshir Bazar area late on Tuesday night and arrested the 10 while they were holding the secret meeting at the house of Abu Bakkar, said Arju Mohammad Sazzad, officer-in-charge of Kaliganj Police station.
Those arrested have been identified as Mozammel Haque, 35,
ameer of Jamaat-e-Islami and son of Makbul Hossain, and Hefazat’s Shahin Mia, 35, son of Ismail Hossain, Abu Bakkar, 70, son of Usman Ali, Nazrul Islam, 57, son of Najumuddin, Fuad Hossain, 40, son of Foyzar Uddin, Sabu Mia, 50, son of Nazrul Haque, Abu Syed, 26, son of Belal Mostafa, Shahidul Islam, 40, son of Fazle Rahman and Faridul Islam, 30, son of Iman Ali.
